Cheryl McWhorter

A native of Montgomery, Alabama and currently residing in Birmingham, Alabama, Cheryl blends Christian melodies with smooth contemporary sounds of jazz creating a beautifully unique place among today’s top gospel/Christian artists. Cheryl auditioned and placed as a finalist in the 2009 season of the BET hit show Sunday Best, besting over 3000 candidates in the Atlanta area and performed for judges Bebe Winans and Erica and Tina of the hit gospel duo Mary Mary. Cheryl has been working towards a gospel singer/songwriter career since and she is currently promoting singles from her newest project entitled New Wings that is scheduled to release December 2018. 

 

She has served as an opening act for Earnest Pugh, Dorinda Clark, Ted Winn, Byron Cage, Ricky Dillard, Patrick Dopson, the Wardlaw Brothers, Pastor Charles Jenkins, Bishop Marvin Winans, and Pastor Donnie McClurkin!  She has also been featured on Bobby Jones Gospel television show as a featured new artist on Impact Television Bobby Jones Presents.  Additionally, Cheryl McWhorter was nominated as Steeple Awards 2018 “New Artist Of The Year”.

OVERFLOE started out in 2001 with a group of musicians with one goal which is to give great music from their God-given talents to their listeners.  Thus began the “NEW SOUND” that is OVERFLOE!  Now inside their 18th year of music together, Steven (keys), DeLon (sax), Rush (guitar), Mario (bass) and Phillip (drums) are now forging into 2019 with a new outlook to bring back their seasoned sound and great live performances to their fans!

OverFloe has also been nominated for in “Best Jazz” categories from Atlanta, Birmingham and Mobile and won for that category in Birmingham by their peers from the local music scene.  They have also opened for multi-Stellar winners Vickie Winans and Maurette Brown Clark and have performed with Byron Cage, Marvin Sapp, Tyscott Gospel jazz saxophonist Harold Rayford. Twice they have performed on “The Bobby Jones Gospel “New Artist Spotlight”.  

 

OverFloe’s last album release “Jericho Project” is a testament of their individual influences of styles of music that embraces jazz, funk, and Rhythm & Blues.
